This study analyzes the "Rich and Religious" image of Ustad Solmed as either a controversy or an inspiration through netizen comments on Instagram. This research reveals the dynamics of social media as a space for the production of imagery and social symbols that influence public perception. Using a qualitative approach and sentiment analysis, the study shows that netizens, as a normative majority, highlight the importance of balancing worldly affairs and the hereafter. Ustad Solmed's image is viewed negatively by netizens due to a worldly lifestyle deemed inconsistent with his status as a preacher. In the concept of social reception, acceptance or rejection of the balance between wealth and religiosity affects public perception of material and religious success. If society accepts this balance, a new symbol will emerge in religious practice, influencing religion-based economic life.

This study explores the life experiences of returned Indonesian female migrant domestic workers (FMDWs) residing in coastal areas, with a particular focus on the challenges they face upon reintegration and their strategies for overcoming post-crisis adversities. Conducted in Indramayu District, West Java, the research adopts a qualitative approach involving demographic surveys of 105 participants and in-depth interviews with 20 selected respondents. The findings reveal that returned FMDWs experience significant economic hardship, health vulnerabilities, and social insecurity, often exacerbated by gender-based roles and limited institutional support. Despite these constraints, many women demonstrate resilience and agency in rebuilding their lives. The study, framed through a gender-sensitive social work perspective, emphasizes the need for multi-level interventions including legal reform, family and community engagement, and stronger collaboration between sending and receiving countries. The article concludes by proposing sustainable reintegration and empowerment strategies to enhance the well-being of FMDWs and strengthen the resilience of their communities.

Selling prices play a crucial role in the lives of oil palm farmers, as the income derived from palm oil is a key factor influencing their welfare. This study aims to examine the impact of changes in the selling price of palm oil on farmers’ welfare, including aspects of health, education, and the economy, as well as the strategies implemented by farmers to cope with the negative effects of palm oil price fluctuations. This research is descriptive in nature and employs a qualitative approach conducted in Gunung Melayu Village, Rahuning Subdistrict, Asahan Regency. Data collection methods include interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis in this study is conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data is ensured through source triangulation. The results show that the impact of price changes on health includes problems related to family diet and nutrition, such as the inability to consume meals with proper nutritional standards (the four healthy five perfect food concept), the inability to afford medical treatment from doctors or midwives, and only being able to purchase over-the-counter medicine from small shops due to lower prices. In terms of education, families are delayed in paying school fees for two months and eliminate expenditures for non-essential child needs. Furthermore, in the economic aspect, there is an impact on basic family needs, such as reducing grocery shopping from once every three days to once a week, and replacing daily purchases of fish with cheaper alternatives like eggs and instant noodles. Therefore, farmers apply various strategies when facing the negative impacts of palm oil price fluctuations to maintain household income stability, including reducing non-essential expenses, managing family finances wisely, acquiring assets when prices are stable, and seeking side jobs to increase household income.

This study aims to analyze the effect of zakat on poverty alleviation in Bangkalan Regency by placing education and health as mediating variables. The approach used is quantitative with a case study method, using primary data from the results of questionnaires distributed to zakat beneficiary communities and regional zakat managers. The results of the statistical analysis show that zakat has a direct and significant effect on poverty reduction, and this effect increases significantly when mediated by education and health variables. These findings indicate that zakat not only functions as temporary assistance, but also as a tool for community empowerment if managed strategically. In addition, this study identifies that the effectiveness of zakat is highly dependent on zakat management policies at the regional level, including synergy between zakat institutions and local governments. This study provides theoretical contributions to the development of productive and practical zakat models to strengthen regional zakat policies that are oriented towards development. Recommendations are given for zakat to be made part of a regional development strategy that is integrated with the education and health sectors, in order to achieve sustainable poverty alleviation.

This research aims to explore how digital literacy can empower the village community of Karangsari, Kulon Progo, through the use of e-commerce. With increasing access to the internet and digital technology, Karangsari Village holds significant potential to enhance its local economy via e-commerce platforms. The study employs a qualitative approach, involving in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation with micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as direct observation of community empowerment activities conducted by the Yogyakarta Communications and Informatics Office. Findings reveal that while substantial support for internet infrastructure in the village is crucial, it must be accompanied by high-quality digital literacy education to be truly effective. Strengthening digital literacy can improve the community’s ability to raise their standard of living—particularly by enabling MSME actors to market their products online, thereby increasing income and overall community welfare. The study concludes that more structured and sustainable digital literacy training programs are essential to effectively support the empowerment of rural communities in the digital era.

The issue of suboptimal waste management often leads to environmental pollution and neglects the economic potential of household waste. Amidst this issue, the waste bank program emerges as an innovative solution that not only reduces waste volume but also empowers the community economically. This study aims to analyze the role of the Suka Mulia Waste Bank in improving the economic welfare of the community in Pematang Johar Village, Labuhan Deli District. The study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that the waste bank plays a significant role in enhancing community welfare through several mechanisms. First, it provides economic incentives such as waste payments, waste savings, and programs to exchange waste for basic needs. Second, it opens new business opportunities through training in recycling waste into economically valuable products such as eco-bricks, paving blocks, liquid fertilizer, and handicrafts. Third, it expands access to social assistance and public services through programs such as paying BPJS premiums, land taxes (PBB), and even school fees from waste savings. This program also fosters environmental awareness and a household-level culture of waste sorting. The success of the waste bank’s implementation is supported by active community participation, village government support, and the involvement of external institutions. Therefore, the waste bank program must continue to be developed with cross-sectoral support so that its benefits can be widely felt, sustainable, and become a model of environmentally based community empowerment.

The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami caused catastrophic damage in Aceh-Indonesia, leaving profound psychological impacts on survivors. This study examines the long-term role of problem-focused coping in predicting post-traumatic growth (PTG) among 145 adult survivors who lost close family members. Using the Post-Traumatic Growth Scale and the Problem-Focused Coping Scale, the results show that problem-focused coping significantly predicts PTG, accounting for 52.34% of the variance (p < 0.001). Survivors who employed active, constructive coping strategies displayed greater growth, meaning-making, and personal development nearly two decades after the trauma. These findings underscore the enduring significance of adaptive coping and the importance of incorporating culturally grounded values into post-disaster mental health interventions.

The abuse of Narcotics, Psychotropics, and Other Addictive Substances (NAPZA) is a social issue with far-reaching impacts on public health, the economy, and social stability. This study aims to analyze the implementation of social rehabilitation for NAPZA abuse survivors at the Cinta Kasih Bangsa Foundation (YCKB) in Ungaran. A qualitative research method with a descriptive approach was employed to understand the implementation of social rehabilitation programs and their impact on clients. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. Interviews were conducted with seven informants, four of whom were key informants as well as three additional informants as individual. The findings indicate that YCKB implements social rehabilitation in several stages, including screening, assessment, rehabilitation, and termination. The programs consist of counseling, psychoeducation, sports, recreation, skills training, pharmacotherapy, and spiritual development. The study reveals that these rehabilitation programs contribute to clients' physical and mental recovery, enhance social reintegration, and reduce relapse rates. However, challenges such as societal stigma and limited resources remain obstacles to optimizing rehabilitation efforts. This study recommends periodic evaluations and the strengthening of rehabilitation programs to ensure sustainability and improve the effectiveness of services for clients.

Domestic violence is a topic that is frequently debated and discussed, even widely reported on social media, where most husbands or men are portrayed as perpetrators of domestic violence and wives as the victims. However, it is known that within the household, anyone has a significant potential to become a perpetrator. Men as victims of domestic violence are often overlooked in social and legal discourses. This study aims to analyze the causes and impacts of domestic violence against men. The research methodology used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, documentation, and interviews. This research was conducted in Aceh Besar District and Banda Aceh City. The study found that power dynamics in relationships, economic imbalance, and rigid gender roles contribute to the worsening condition of male victims. The impacts experienced by men who are subjected to domestic violence tend to include feelings of shame, stigma, and difficulty in accessing help due to social constructs that expect men to be strong and not show weakness. This study provides insight into the need for greater attention to men as victims of domestic violence and emphasizes the importance of changing societal perspectives and policies to create a more inclusive and responsive system for victims of all genders.
