The Influence of Fanaticism and Religiosity on Verbal Aggressive Behavior Among K-Pop Fans

This study aims to examine the influence of fanaticism and religiosity on verbal aggression among K-pop fans, particularly EXO-L fans in Medan City. A quantitative survey approach was used, involving 55 respondents as the research sample. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with SPSS version 25 to assess the relationships between fanaticism (X1), religiosity (X2), and verbal aggression (Y). The results indicate that fanaticism has a significant correlation with verbal aggression, with a correlation coefficient of 0.508, while religiosity also shows a significant correlation with a coefficient of 0.550. Furthermore, a significant combined relationship was found between fanaticism and religiosity with verbal aggression, with a correlation coefficient of 0.685. This study concludes that fanaticism toward K-pop idols can drive aggressive behaviors, including verbal aggression, especially when idols or fan communities are perceived as being attacked. Religiosity, on the other hand, has a dual role: it can mitigate aggression through spiritual self-control or trigger aggression when religious values are perceived to be threatened by K-pop culture.

The Intellectual Controversy Between Abraham Geiger and Al-Ghazali in Interpreting Islam

The differences in thought between Abraham Geiger and Al-Ghazali in understanding Islam reflect two contrasting approaches to the Qur’an and the influence of tradition in religious education. This study aims to analyze how their intellectual perspectives have shaped theological development within their respective traditions and their impact on the broader study of religion. The research employs a qualitative method, focusing on an in-depth analysis of Geiger’s and Al-Ghazali’s works, alongside a comprehensive literature review to contextualize the historical and philosophical dimensions of their arguments. The findings indicate that Geiger, through his historical-critical approach, presents a more flexible interpretation of sacred texts, whereas Al-Ghazali upholds the authority and wisdom of the Qur’an as the primary foundation of Islamic knowledge. This intellectual discourse highlights the tension between rationalism and traditionalism in Islamic studies while illustrating the dynamic interplay between radicalism and religiosity within the Muslim world. Furthermore, this controversy underscores internal debates across various religious traditions and offers valuable insights into how interfaith dialogue can enhance the understanding of Islam and spirituality in the modern era. Ultimately, this study aims to contribute to a broader academic discourse on the interaction between religious tradition and critical thought in a global context.

Religious Tolerance in Islam and Hinduism: A Comparative Analysis of the Holy Qur’an and the Vedas

This article considers the importance of religious tolerance especially in Islam and Hinduism amid religious conflicts and social tensions that often arise as a result of miscommunication with other religious teachings, especially in pluralistic societies such as Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to examine the concepts of religious tolerance taught in Islam and Hinduism through analysis of the holy scriptures of the Qur 'an and Veda. From qualitative methods with comparative approach and literature studies, this study shows that Islam and Hinduism both emphasize the importance of honoring differences, justice, and harmony in a common life. However, there is a difference in the theological approach, where Islam emphasis more on constancy, while Hinduism is more inclusive of its various spiritual pathways. It is hoped that the study can strengthen cross-religious understanding, enhance interfaith dialogue, and promote harmonious and peaceful social harmony.

The Role of Religious Moderation in Strengthening the Link Between Local Wisdom and Sustainable Development Goals

This study aims to explore the role of religious moderation as a moderator in the relationship between local wisdom and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia. Local wisdom is a foundation of values that support social harmony, environmental sustainability, and economic sustainability, but its implementation often faces challenges in plural societies. Religious moderation, which emphasises tolerance, balance and the rejection of extremism, is considered a solution to maintaining social stability and enhancing the connectivity of local values with sustainable development. While there have been many studies on local wisdom and SDGs, there is a lack of studies linking religious moderation as a moderator variable. Using a quantitative approach, this study measures the effect of local wisdom on the achievement of SDGs and examines the moderating role of religion in strengthening the relationship. PLS-SEM analysis shows interesting results regarding the influence of local wisdom, religious moderation, and the achievement of sustainable development goals. The significant path coefficient indicates a strong relationship between local wisdom with religious moderation as a moderator. This finding supports the hypothesis that the higher the level of local wisdom in a community, the stronger the role of religious moderation in mediating the relationship with other variables. However, the analysis also shows an interesting negative relationship between religious moderation and sustainable development. This indicates that an increase in sustainable development is not always directly proportional to an increase in religious moderation.

Digital Multicultural Da’wah and the Prevention of Virtual Radicalism Among Generation Z

The rapid spread of radical ideologies through digital platforms has made Generation Z a primary target of virtual radicalism. As digital natives, they are highly exposed to online content, increasing their vulnerability to extremist narratives. This study explores the role of multicultural da’wah as a preventive strategy against virtual radicalism among Generation Z. Employing a thematic literature review, this research analyzes recent scholarly works, reports, and other relevant sources. The study focuses on the conceptual framework and practical implementation of multicultural da’wah, particularly its adaptation in digital contexts. Findings show that multicultural da’wah offers an inclusive approach grounded in tolerance, cultural diversity, and interfaith dialogue. It is effectively implemented through creative digital campaigns, educational applications, culturally-rooted content, and community-based programs. Key success factors include emotional resonance with youth, digital literacy, psychological sensitivity, and collaboration across religious, educational, and governmental institutions.

Revitalizing the Role of Religion in Poverty Alleviation: A Critical Analysis of Gustavo Gutierrez’s Liberation Theology

The widespread reality of poverty in Latin America prompted the emergence of liberation theology as a theological response to systemic injustice. Gustavo Gutierrez, one of the central figures in this movement, emphasized the strategic role of religion in dismantling oppressive structures and advocating for the liberation of the poor. This article aims to examine the role of religion in poverty alleviation through the lens of Gutierrez’s liberation theology. The study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method based on literature review. The findings reveal that Gutierrez distinguishes between two types of poverty: individual and structural. Individual poverty can be addressed through transformation of mindset, work ethic, and education. In contrast, structural poverty—which stems from systemic inequality and domination—requires radical social change grounded in principles of justice. Within this framework, religion is not merely a system of transcendental beliefs, but a liberative praxis capable of challenging injustice and advocating for the marginalized. This article affirms that liberation theology remains relevant not only as a matter of faith, but also as a critical framework for strengthening the role of religion in promoting social justice and siding with the oppressed.

Umrah Trends in Society: Influencer, Media and the Way to Construct Between Worship and Religious Tourism

Umrah, which is a form of worship in Islam, has changed practice and meaning in modern society. Currently, modern society interprets Umrah not only as worship but also as religious tourism and places Umrah as a lifestyle practice. This article discusses the trend of Umrah plus tourism in modern society, with a focus on social media and influencers in framing the perspective of society and encouraging people to perform Umrah. Mass media such as Instagram and TikTok play an important role in promoting Umrah travel, both through advertisements, and testimonials from pilgrims who describe the spirituality of the Umrah journey. In addition, influencers or even artists also play an important role in the Umrah trend in modern society, where their reviews and posts about certain Umrah travel will attract people's interest in doing the same. A qualitative approach is used as a method in analyzing content and public perceptions of Umrah as worship and religious tourism. The results of this study show that the role of social media and influencers is not only limited to promotion but also as agents of change in shaping the perception of modern society regarding the meaning of Umrah
